More than one source reports that advertising spending is expected to grow pretty much across the board in 2022. It’s no surprise that spending on digital marketing is expected to increase, based on purchasing patterns that shifted at the start of the pandemic and show no signs of turning back.

What’s more interesting is that the increase in all categories is supposed to lead to a spending boost of about 10%. That’s coming off of 2021, which realized a projected growth of 22.5% in global media ad revenue.

After digital media, analysts expected to see the largest growth in spending in streaming audio and video advertising, in-game advertising and influencer marketing. Even traditional marketing services are expected to enjoy an increase in spending, with public relations and print content marketing leading the way.

So what does this all mean?

  • Businesses that started during the pandemic have invested heavily in advertising when established companies cut back (Ginger warned you about that one)
  • The pandemic trend for consumers to find and buy what they want online hasn’t gone away
  • Digital advertising isn’t your only option – depending on your objectives and consumer, it may not even be your best option
