Women’s Council of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center

Vela Agency has been a long-time supporter of the Women’s Council of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation. And we’re excited that the council recently received recognition as Outstanding Philanthropic Organization (Winston-Salem) on National Philanthropy Day®.

This council and its 125 members work tirelessly and often behind the scenes to improve the health of women in the Triad. One of the members we know best is Ginger Gallagher, Vela’s president and the chair of the council’s special events and programming committee.

Ginger was part of a team that raised more than $350,000 to secure a second mobile mammography unit for the Triad area. The unit is expected to serve about 6,000 people annually and make mammography services more accessible in our community.

The council’s ambitious effort to raise $350,000 marked the group’s 10th anniversary. To date, the Women’s Council has raised more than $525,000 in grants for women’s health programs at Novant Health and was instrumental in starting the Nurse Navigator program at Forsyth Medical Center.

The group was recognized at the recent National Philanthropy Day luncheon in Greensboro. The event recognizes great contributions in philanthropy and was held by the North Carolina Triad Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Congrats to the Women’s Council for the recognition, and thanks to you and Ginger for the work you do to improve the health of all women in our community.
