Chrystal Sills

Chrystal Sills knows the ins and outs of social media platforms, including how to turn a brand’s followers into passionate fans. She’s also our office voice impersonator. Here are a few things to know about Chrystal.

Q: What do you do at Vela?
I’m the digital communications specialist, so in short, I do work on the backend of websites (like publishing all of the awesome articles in Velasophy); maintain the online communities for a few amazing brands and events (People can post the most interesting things on social media); and just about anything else our clients need to make their digital and social media run smoothly.

Q: What did you do previously?
Why live in the past? LOL. I’ve worked for the past decade in various roles in both the digital and traditional marketing realms.

In a previous life, when I was considering a career in government, I interned at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, better known as FEMA, and for a civics education program in Washington, D.C. I’ve also worked in retail, selling lotion part-time at Bath & Body Works for a number of years while working in marketing full-time. That customer service experience has helped me with community management online. I’m just a Jill-of-all-trades.

Q: What do you want your clients to know about you?
I really love working with people. I think that digital marketing is another vehicle to connect humans with one another. If we approach marketing from the standpoint of making true connections with other people, we can create honest relationships between us and our customers.

Q: Why did you want to work at Vela?
I wanted to work at Vela once I perused our Facebook page. There, clients and employees alike sang praises for the company and how everyone works together I understood the reason for all those accolades when I met the team. This has been the most positive environment that I’ve worked in. The people here are sincere and work together as a team to motivate one another to be great. That means a lot in today’s society.

Q: What’s your hidden talent/ability/superpower?

Voices. I’m an impersonation queen! If anyone is looking to pull a phone prank, I’m your girl.
